Natural enhancement with Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced by the body. The problem is our bodies make less hyaluronic acid as we get older. Also as we age our face tends to become more hollow and we begin to develop lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can be used to restore volume and re-create your youthful appearance. It also helps to smoothen out lines and wrinkles and give a more energised appearance.

  • How long does the procedure take?

Generally our filler treatments take around 30 minutes per area. At present some treatments may take longer as we are taking care to make our services as COVID SAFE as possible with use of PPE (personal protective equipment).

  • How long does the effect last?

The effect of the filler can be seen immediately and can last varying amounts of time. Some fillers can last up to 6-9 months, others last up to 12 months. This doesn’t mean the product disappears within this time, it can last much longer as it is slowly broken down by the body.

  • How many mls do I need?

We do not generalise when recommending filler. Your bespoke assessment will help determine how much filler is advised. Generally we take the less is more approach in order to provide subtle changes which preserve your natural appearance. Over time more filler can be used with an accumulative effect.

  • Is it safe?

Dermal fillers are considered to be safe if done by an experienced and qualified professional. They contain a hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body. Furthermore, the fillers we use are all reversible. If they need to be removed we are able to dissolve them with a reversing solution.

  • Are there any side effects?

As with any medical treatment there is always a risk of side effects. The commonest side effects include tenderness, bruising and swelling. Tenderness tends to improve after a few days but may last up to 3 weeks. Bruising can take around 7 days to resolve but can be disguised with make up the day after treatment. Swelling usually improves over 2-3 days.

A much rarer complication is blockage of a blood vessel. This can be reversed using a reversing agent. It is very important that you only use trusted medical professionals so that any rare complications like this can be promptly recognised and managed. Rest assured, all of these will be discussed with you in detail during your extensive, bespoke consultation.

  • What happens during a consultation?

In order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission your initial consultation will begin over the phone or via video link. We will discuss your medical and aesthetic history and determine your suitability for treatment. After analysis of your images we will book an appointment in our clinic. From here we will re-analyse your face.

During treatment your face will be cleansed and prepared. We will discuss anaesthetic options, though most of our clients tend to tolerate the treatment without this. Dermal filler will be injected into the target areas using a fine needle or cannula.

  • What happens after a consultation?

After treatment you will be given written advice. For the first 24 hours we advise you avoid touching the treated area and applying make up. For the first 48 hours we advise avoiding exercise and extreme changes of heat such as saunas and steam rooms.

Don’t have facial massages, facial electro stimulation, dermaroller, semi-permanent make up, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks after your treatment.

You will also be issued with a 24 hour contact number which can be used to seek emergency advice.

  • Do I need time off work?

There is no down time or recovery time required after a filler procedure so usually you will be able to return to work the next day.

Some of our clients have some swelling following filler treatment and choose to delay work for a few days whilst this settles down.
